Would you be so kind
As to shovel back in
The dirt from the hole
That I've dug myself in?

I wish for the earth
To swallow me now
As thoroughly as the foot
Now lodged in my mouth.

Let me fade into shadows
Forget we ever met,
This moment never happened,
Those words were never said.
Have any of you ever said something so incredibly stupid that you just want to curl up in a corner and fade from existence? That's happened to me more times than I can remember. So I wrote this short thing about it. It sucks, but whatever. I'll rewrite it if it's absolutely unbearable.

It's as funny as it is painfully honest. Whatever you think of how well it was written, I think it has a simple tone that is almost impossible to capture normally. Well done!

Thank you! :aww: It's always nice to hear people's opinions on my work. I'm glad you thought it was funny; that's what I had in mind when I wrote it, but I didn't feel I did it well enough. People keep telling me otherwise, though.

It does NOT suck! I really think it's wonderful. By the way, I believe short poems are the best because you can say a lot with a single verse. :)

I felt it was really weak when I first wrote it, but everyone keeps saying otherwise, so maybe it's just my self-deprecation acting up again.

I get you. It happens to me as well. I've written stuff that I consider poor but others don't.
Perhaps sometimes we can't see our own greatness.

The artist's curse...nothing is ever good enough for its creator.

I agree. It's kind of annoying. Maybe it's just because I'm a pessimist. :/

Actually, based on what I hear from others here, a lot of artists suffer the same thing. I guess it's an art thing.

Heck, every moment of my life I want to peel the tiles off the floor like they're a carpet and live under them. Or open the ceiling and hide there. You know, somewhere I can still hear people without sight.

While I don't have this feeling 24/7, it happens so often I might as well have it. Though now that I basically live isolated from the world, it doesn't happen too often.

My feeling doesn't come from humiliation. I don't know WHERE it comes from. Ugh.

Some people just feel basically unworthy of existence, of being noticed. I should know; I'm one of them.

This happens to everyone. In the end people will forget so don't best yourself up over it. :)

The problem is that I never forget, and my perfectionist complex makes me beat myself up over it, even years after it happens. It can be pretty difficult to control.

I actually know a lot of my issues in great detail, but I have a hard time fighting them. It's a bit of a contradiction, but then again, so is pretty much everything about me.

Hey. Don't be too hard on yourself ok? We're all human. We're not meant to be perfect. What would be the fun in being carbon copies of everyone? Break the mold! Your flaws make you who you are. Be proud of it. :)

When I say "flaws", I'm not talking about deviations from the norm. I'm talking about things that genuinely hinder me from being my best version. I still have a long road to being the best person I know I can possibly be.

It may be a long road, but hey, I've got the rest of my life to walk it. Alone or accompanied, the journey will never end. Hopefully at the end, I'll be satisfied with what I become.

I think this is very good, I love the rhyme and itīs something everyone can relate to, especially me... Now that I remember I wanted to die everytime that happened.

I didn't want to die so much as just fade from existence. Though there have been times I've felt like stabbing myself repeatedly, then shoving myself into a howitzer and having it fire my corpse into a volcano.

...Yeah, I've said some pretty stupid things.

I tend to get this more often when talking to people outside of the Internet. I have a knack for saying the wrong things at the wrong time.

I like it. I feel stupid because it reminds me of a great many things I have done...

The only point I would make is that I think the rhythm would be nicer with 'in' in place of 'into.'

But this brought up a lot for me, funny moments and embarrasing moments, all.

I wasn't originally going to have it rhyme, but then the last stanza had a bit of a rhyme, then I figured I could do that with the rest of it, and now I'm realizing I forgot to change the first stanza.

...This poem seems pretty fitting now.
